10x13 Handwoven Beige Striped Kilim Rug - 51802

Very fine horizontal stripes in brown, grey, mauve, olive and ivory cover this kilim, and four wide vertical bands of soft beige cut through them from end to end. The edges of the beige bands blur into the stripes, so the rug has a gentle, slightly hazy look rather than a hard grid. A thin dark line finishes each end. The striped columns between the beige bands carry tiny flecks of rust and blue that only show up close.

Made by hand in Turkey from wool salvaged from older kilims, it has been rewoven into this design. The rug measures 10'6" x 13'5" (321 x 408 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, so it lies flat and handles easily. Use it in a large living room, beneath a dining table for eight or in a king bedroom. It weighs about 25 kg (55 lbs). A non-slip pad keeps it steady on smooth floors, and turning it from time to time helps it wear evenly.

The mix of neutral bands and fine color suits Japandi, organic modern, rustic and contemporary interiors. A linen sofa in mushroom or stone, with a few olive or mauve cushions, would pick up its subtler threads. A textured rug that reads as neutral from across the room.
