Bold black motifs are laid out in horizontal bands across an ivory beige ground: blocks of vertical stripes, a stepped meander line, rows of small dots, tiny squares and chains of diamonds. The graphic vocabulary recalls hand-drawn tribal textiles, and the strong contrast between black and cream keeps every element crisp. The bands repeat in a loose mirror from top to bottom, with the striped blocks returning at both ends to frame the busier rows in the middle.
Handwoven in Turkey, it uses wool reclaimed from older kilims that has been rewoven into this new design. It measures 10'4" x 13'4" (314 x 407 cm) and is roughly 5 mm thick, a size that suits a large living room, an open-plan lounge or a king bedroom. It weighs about 24 kg (53 lbs). On a floor this large, a full-size rug pad helps it stay flat and square, and vacuuming without the beater bar protects the light ground.
The monochrome palette makes it easy to place in modern, bohemian, Scandinavian and global-inspired rooms, and it looks especially good with rattan, linen and black metal. A plain cream sofa and a few dark wood pieces let the motifs do the talking, while a black-framed print on the wall ties the room together. A characterful rug that still feels clean and balanced.
