Short horizontal dashes in rose pink, mustard yellow, sky blue, burgundy and grey are arranged in staggered columns across a pale grey field, all framed by a narrow powder blue border. The layout looks almost like a bookshelf or a set of brushstrokes, cheerful and light without feeling busy. The dashes fall into roughly three columns, offset from one another so no two colors line up exactly, and the grey ground itself is lightly streaked in beige and taupe, giving the background a soft, heathered texture.

The kilim was handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims, rewoven into this modern pastel design. At 10'5" x 13'5" (318 x 410 cm) and roughly 5 mm thick, it suits a large living room, a family room or a dining room for eight. It weighs about 25 kg (55 lbs). Being a flatweave, it has no pile to flatten under furniture legs, and a thin pad underneath adds grip on hard floors.

Its soft, playful palette fits Scandinavian, eclectic, mid-century and contemporary interiors, and it brightens rooms with white or pale grey walls. It is equally at home in a sunny breakfast room or a calm bedroom. A mustard armchair or blush cushions would let one of its colors lead the room. A light-hearted rug with a gentle splash of color.
