10x13 Handwoven Multicolor Striped Kilim Rug - 51746

Broad horizontal stripes in teal blue, chocolate brown, sage green, slate grey and sand run across the width of this rug. Each stripe is made up of finer lines in related tones, so the colors blend softly at the edges and the surface has a gentle, heathered texture. Deep teal bands close both ends, a wide chocolate stripe sits in the upper third, and paler sand and sage bands open up the middle, so the rug looks a little like a landscape seen in layers from sea to field.

The kilim was woven by hand in Turkey from wool salvaged from older kilims and rewoven into this relaxed striped design. At 9'7" x 12'8" (293 x 386 cm) and about 5 mm thick, it is a flat rug for a living room, a family room or under a dining table seating six to eight. It weighs about 21 kg (46 lbs). A regular vacuum, without the beater bar, and an occasional turn so both teal ends see equal traffic keep it looking even.

The natural palette suits modern rustic, Scandinavian, coastal and organic modern interiors, and it ties together greens, blues and wood tones. The blended stripes are also forgiving of everyday traffic. A teal velvet chair or olive linen curtains would pick up its colors well. An easygoing stripe for everyday living.
