10x13 Handwoven Yellow Checkered Kilim Rug - 51775

Narrow columns run the length of this kilim, each filled with small stacked blocks in mustard, ochre, olive, grey and ivory. Thin brown lines separate the columns, and a dark brown frame outlines the edges. Up close the blocks shift and stagger, giving the surface a woven, almost pixelated texture that reads as a soft golden check from a distance. Roughly eighteen columns cross the width, and the grey and ivory blocks are scattered unevenly, so no two columns look quite alike.

Woven by hand in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims, it has been rewoven into this new design. It measures 10'2" x 13'5" (311 x 410 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, so it sits flat and is easy to reposition. Place it in a large living room, under a dining table for eight or across a king bedroom. It weighs around 24 kg (53 lbs). Because there is no pile, it clears most doors, and rotating it occasionally helps the golden tones wear evenly.

The warm, muted tones suit mid-century, Scandinavian, rustic and modern farmhouse rooms. It adds warmth and texture without strong contrast, which makes it easy to style. Teak furniture, olive green upholstery or a mustard throw would sit comfortably on it.
