10x14 Handwoven Beige and Black Medallion Kilim Rug - 51737

Bold black vertical stripes divide the sand beige field into four long columns, and each column holds a stack of black stepped diamond medallions. Between the medallions sit smaller peach and blush diamonds and tiny black cross motifs, so the eye moves down the rug in a steady, orderly rhythm. The medallions in neighboring columns are offset by half a step, which keeps the layout from looking like a strict grid, and each black diamond is outlined with small hooks that echo traditional kilim drawing.

It was handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims, unravelled and rewoven into this updated tribal layout. The rug measures 10'6" x 14'0" (321 x 427 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, so it lies flat and sits neatly under furniture. It is a good fit for a large living room, a dining table for eight or a king bedroom. It weighs about 26 kg (57 lbs). A rug pad will hold it in place, and a regular pass with the vacuum, beater bar off, keeps the sand ground clean.

The black and sand palette suits modern farmhouse, rustic, Scandinavian and transitional rooms, and the soft peach touches add warmth. Placed lengthwise under a long farmhouse table, the stripes run with the table and make the room feel longer. A structured, graphic rug with a traditional character.
