10x14 Handwoven Beige Meander Border Kilim Rug - 51703

A golden beige field sits at the center of this kilim, scattered with tiny dots and crossed by a single column of small brown and ivory squares, each holding a little star motif. Around it runs a wide ivory border with a dark brown meander, or key, pattern and small green stars, finished by a plain golden outer band. The key pattern turns neatly at each corner, and the column of squares steps down the field slightly off center, which gives the layout a quiet, personal touch.

The rug was handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this classic bordered layout. It measures 10'3" x 14'1" (313 x 430 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, sized for a large living room, a formal dining room for eight or a spacious king bedroom. It weighs about 26 kg (57 lbs). With no pile, it stays flat under a heavy table and lets chairs move without snagging.

The warm palette and structured border suit traditional, transitional, Mediterranean and classic modern rooms, and they look especially good with dark wood and brass. A long wooden dining table set within the border, or a camel leather sofa, would make the most of its framed shape. A refined rug that frames a room neatly.
