Evenly spaced horizontal stripes in chocolate brown and soft grey cross a pale ivory beige field, each interrupted at regular points by small notches and breaks. The breaks line up down the length of the rug, forming faint vertical columns, so the simple stripe gains a subtle, almost architectural structure. Brown and grey stripes alternate fairly evenly, and each break is shaped like a small V or step, which gives the lines a stitched, almost handwritten look when you stand close.

Made by hand in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this clean modern pattern, it measures 10'0" x 13'11" (306 x 424 cm) and is about 5 mm thick. It works well in a large living room, an open-plan lounge or under a dining table for eight. It weighs about 25 kg (55 lbs).
