10x14 Handwoven Black and Beige Striped Kilim Rug - 51770

Wide bands of black and warm beige alternate across the width of this kilim in a steady, almost even rhythm. The stripes are slightly irregular at their edges, a sign of the hand weaving, and the beige carries faint tonal shifts that keep the surface from feeling flat. With roughly a dozen black bands from end to end and no border, the stripes run cleanly off every edge. It is a simple layout with a lot of presence.

It was woven by hand in Turkey from reclaimed wool taken from older kilims, then rewoven into this graphic stripe. The rug measures 10'2" x 13'11" (310 x 424 cm) and is around 5 mm thick, so it lies flat and handles easily. It suits a large living room, an open dining area for eight or a king bedroom. It weighs roughly 25 kg (55 lbs). A rug pad keeps the bold lines straight and stops the rug from creeping on hard floors.

Clean contrast makes it a good fit for modern, Scandinavian, industrial and farmhouse rooms, and it can make a long room feel wider. A white sofa, black metal side tables and a few woven baskets would keep the look crisp but warm. A classic stripe that never really goes out of style.
