Crisp ivory lines cross a deep black field in a lattice of straight and diagonal strokes, forming large diamonds within a framework of squares. The pattern repeats evenly across the rug, and the high contrast between black and cream gives it a sharp, architectural presence, reminiscent of a garden trellis or leaded glass. Many of the lines are doubled, running in close pairs, which gives the grid a tailored, pinstriped finish.

Handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims, it has been rewoven into this modern geometric design. It measures 10'4" x 13'10" (315 x 421 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, making it suitable for a large living room, a king bedroom or a dining room seating eight. It weighs about 25 kg (55 lbs). Vacuum it on a suction setting to keep the ivory lines bright, and add an underlay for grip on hard floors.

The black and ivory palette works especially well in modern, art deco, industrial and monochrome interiors, and it adds structure to rooms with lots of soft furnishings. A white boucle sofa, a smoked glass table or polished chrome would sharpen its graphic look. A bold rug that still feels timeless.
