10x14 Handwoven Blue Abstract Kilim Rug - 51803

Deep denim blue covers this kilim, and across it run thin, wavering streaks of black, dark brown and lighter blue. The streaks bend slightly as they cross the rug, so the surface looks a little like rippling water or brushed ink. A narrow pale edge frames both long sides. The lighter blue streaks are spread fairly evenly, so the rug reads as a rich, heathered blue rather than as stripes.

It was woven by hand in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this abstract design. The rug measures 10'2" x 13'9" (310 x 420 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, a flat profile that sits easily under furniture. It suits a large living room, a dining room with a table for eight or a king bedroom. It weighs about 25 kg (55 lbs). Because a flatweave has no pile, it lets doors swing over it, and spot cleaning takes care of small spills.

The deep blue works in modern, coastal, industrial and transitional rooms and pairs well with white, grey and warm wood. In a bedroom, it sits well under a natural oak bed with crisp white linens and brass reading lamps. A moody, textured rug that brings depth to a large space.
