10x14 Handwoven Blue Arc Pattern Kilim Rug - 51708

Two large rounded frames in beige and grey sit one above the other on this kilim, each drawn like a soft-cornered square with bands of color that curve around the edges. Behind them the ground is filled with fine horizontal stripes in blue and grey, and the stripes continue through the open centers of the frames. A wider band of solid blue separates the two shapes at the middle, and a narrow strip of broken, darker stripes runs across the top end, adding a small irregular touch to an otherwise orderly layout.

Woven by hand in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims, it has been rewoven into this modern, almost retro design. The rug measures 10'0" x 13'9" (306 x 420 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, fitting a large living room, an open-plan lounge or a king bedroom. At about 24 kg (53 lbs) it has some heft, though a rug pad underneath is still a good idea to keep it from shifting on hard floors. Spot clean spills promptly with a damp cloth.

The rounded shapes and soft palette suit mid-century modern, contemporary, coastal and Japandi rooms, and they echo curved furniture nicely. Set a boucle armchair or a round coffee table on one of the frames and let the stripes do the rest. A calm, graphic piece with a gentle seventies feel.
