10x14 Handwoven Brown Striped Kilim Rug - 51725

Fine horizontal stripes in chocolate, cocoa and soft reddish brown give this kilim a woven, almost wood-grain texture. The tones shift gently from band to band, so the rug looks nearly solid from a distance and reveals its layered striping up close. The upper part leans a little warmer and redder, the lower part slightly darker, and scattered pale flecks in the weave catch the light, adding a subtle shimmer to the surface without breaking its calm.

It was woven by hand in Turkey from wool salvaged from older kilims, unravelled and rewoven into this simple striped design. At 9'8" x 13'9" (294 x 420 cm) and about 5 mm thick, it suits a large living room, a dining room for eight or a king bedroom where a calm base layer is needed. It weighs about 23 kg (51 lbs). With no pile, it sits flat enough for doors to pass over, and dining chairs slide across it easily.
