10x14 Handwoven Green Striped Kilim Rug - 51720

Horizontal stripes in sage, olive, lime green, soft grey, beige, black and a few lines of rust run across the full width of this kilim. Some bands are wide and heathered, others thin and crisp, and the varied spacing gives the stripe a relaxed, natural rhythm with a fresh green tone. A narrow dark edge frames the long sides, and the black lines cluster more densely toward the lower end, so the rug feels slightly heavier at one end and lighter and greener at the other.

It was woven by hand in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this modern striped design. The rug measures 10'3" x 14'1" (313 x 430 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, a good size for a large living room, an open-plan space or under a dining table for eight. It weighs about 26 kg (57 lbs). Because it has no pile, it lies flat and clears most interior doors, and turning it end to end once in a while evens out wear.

The green palette suits Scandinavian, modern farmhouse, eclectic and organic modern rooms, and it pairs well with plants, rattan and pale wood. Laid in a sunroom or garden-facing dining area, the stripes carry the view inside. A fresh, easygoing rug that brings the outdoors in.
