10x14 Handwoven Grey and Black Striped Kilim Rug - 51801

Five columns run down this kilim, each filled with short horizontal stripes in black, olive green, ivory and taupe on a greige ground. The stripes in neighboring columns do not line up, so the pattern looks like a staggered barcode or a stack of woven samples. The palette is muted with sharp dark accents. Some olive stripes have a lighter, almost lime tone, which adds a small lift of color to the cool greys.

It was handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims, then rewoven into this striped layout. The rug measures 10'1" x 13'8" (308 x 416 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, a flat weave that is easy to roll and move. It suits a large living room, under a dining table for eight or a king bedroom. It weighs about 24 kg (53 lbs). Chairs move easily over its pile-free surface, and a gentle vacuum without the brush roll keeps it tidy.

Its neutral but graphic look fits modern, industrial, Scandinavian and mid-century rooms, especially with black metal and light wood. An olive velvet chair or a few green plants would echo its accent stripes. A structured rug that adds rhythm without bright color.
