10x14 Handwoven Grey Geometric Kilim Rug - 51683

Rows of small geometric motifs are scattered across a deep charcoal grey ground, each one a little diamond, star or hooked figure picked out in soft pink, ivory, sage green, rust and pale blue. The motifs are spaced evenly but vary in color, giving the field a lively, almost confetti-like rhythm, and narrow banded borders close off both ends. Many diamonds hold smaller diamonds inside them, and tiny dots fill the gaps between the larger figures.

Made by hand in Turkey, this kilim uses wool reclaimed from older kilims that has been rewoven into a new design. It measures 10'0" x 14'1" (306 x 430 cm) and is about 5 mm thick. The size is generous enough for a large living room, under a dining table for eight, or beneath a king bed with room to spare. It weighs about 25 kg (55 lbs), and since it has no pile it stays flat under heavy furniture and lets chairs glide.

The dark ground grounds a room while the colorful motifs keep it from feeling heavy, so it suits eclectic, bohemian, transitional and modern rustic spaces. Dusty pink or sage cushions, a worn leather sofa and warm brass lighting would draw out its accent colors. It is a practical choice for busy family rooms too.
