10x14 Handwoven Grey Striped Kilim Rug - 51689

Soft grey horizontal stripes of different widths cross a pale grey ground, some sharp and charcoal, others hazy and dove grey where the yarn shifts in tone. The stripes are spaced irregularly, giving the rug a relaxed, slightly painterly look rather than a strict ruled pattern. Several of the darker stripes fade out partway across, as if brushed on and lifted, which adds to the gentle, sketched feel.

It was handwoven in Turkey from wool salvaged from older kilims and rewoven into this simple modern stripe. At 10'0" x 13'10" (304 x 421 cm) and about 5 mm thick, it fits a large living room, sits under a dining table for eight, or covers the floor of a king bedroom. It weighs about 24 kg (53 lbs). Because it has no pile, it stays low and flat under doors and furniture, and a quick vacuum keeps it clean.

The subtle tonal palette is ideal for Scandinavian, minimalist, Japandi and contemporary interiors, and it pairs well with white, black and pale wood. It also works in a calm bedroom with grey linen and a black metal bed frame. An easy, quietly textured rug for a calm room.
