Fine horizontal stripes of grey, taupe, chocolate brown and soft blue run the full length of this flatweave, set so closely together that from a distance they blend into a soft, heathered texture. Up close the bands vary in width and tone, which gives the surface a natural, handmade irregularity. A few darker brown bands near the top and middle add a little weight, while the rest of the field stays light and airy.

Made by hand in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into a simple modern stripe, it measures 10'2" x 14'1" (310 x 430 cm) and is about 5 mm thick. The size works for a large living room, an open-plan space or under a dining table for eight. It weighs around 25 kg (55 lbs). Routine vacuuming on a suction setting and prompt blotting of spills will keep it looking fresh for years.
