10x14 Handwoven Multicolor Abstract Kilim Rug - 51727

Layered bands of grey, slate blue, sand, black, mustard and rust sweep across this kilim at shifting angles, building a composition that recalls hills or rock strata seen from a distance. A broad mustard stripe runs across the lower half, and a few rust and terracotta streaks warm the bottom edge. Near the top a deeper blue band and darker olive wedges add weight, while blush pink and pale grey slivers fill the middle, so the colors grow warmer and heavier as the eye moves downward.

It was handwoven in Turkey from wool recovered from older kilims and rewoven into this abstract design. It measures 10'5" x 14'2" (317 x 433 cm) and is roughly 5 mm thick, making it an easy large-format rug for a living room, an open-plan lounge or under a dining table seating eight. It weighs about 26 kg (57 lbs). Spot clean spills with a little cool water, and give it a turn every few months so it wears evenly.

The painterly palette suits modern, contemporary, mid-century and art-focused interiors, and it pairs nicely with grey sofas and walnut furniture. Because no two bands are quite the same, it rewards a closer look. A mustard throw or rust cushion on the sofa would tie the room to its lower bands. It reads like a large piece of textile art laid on the floor.
