10x14 Handwoven Multicolor Diamond Kilim Rug - 51726

Rows of large stepped diamonds fill this kilim, each one framed by pointed arrow-like shapes that link the rows together. Coral red, faded blue, soft grey, mustard and ivory alternate from motif to motif, and small dark comb and cross details sit inside several of the diamonds. Between the diamonds, ivory hourglass shapes with fine stepped outlines create a second pattern, and a narrow dark band closes each end, giving the busy field a clear top and bottom.

Made by hand in Turkey, it was woven from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this updated tribal layout. The rug measures 10'3" x 13'9" (313 x 418 cm) and is about 5 mm thick. It fits a large living room, a family room or the space under a dining table for eight. It weighs about 25 kg (55 lbs). Being a flatweave without pile, it lies smooth under furniture, and a thin rug pad will keep it from sliding when people cross it often.

The faded, sun-washed colors suit bohemian, eclectic, Southwestern and transitional decor, and they mix easily with patterned cushions and natural textures. The repeat is busy enough to hide everyday wear in a well-used room. A rattan chair, a cognac leather pouf and white walls let the coral and blue stand out.
