10x14 Handwoven Tan Diamond Kilim Rug - 51714

Columns of small, finely outlined diamond medallions run down a warm tan and golden field on this kilim, each drawn in dark brown with stepped edges and tiny inner motifs. Thin horizontal stripes cross the ground, and together with the repeating diamonds they create a dense, textured pattern that reads almost like a woven grid. Seen from a distance, the medallions line up into neat vertical bands, while up close hints of olive and green appear in the outlines and the tan ground shifts slightly from honey to caramel.

The rug was handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this understated geometric design. It measures 10'0" x 13'10" (304 x 421 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, a fit for a large living room, a king bedroom or under a dining table for eight. It weighs about 24 kg (53 lbs). A non-slip rug pad keeps it in place on wood or tile, and routine vacuuming with the brush roll off keeps the flat weave looking crisp.

The warm, earthy tone suits rustic, southwestern, transitional and modern farmhouse rooms, and it pairs well with leather, wood and wrought iron. A worn brown leather sofa, terracotta pots and woven baskets would bring out its warmth. A subtle pattern with plenty of warmth.
