Thin ivory lines draw a honeycomb of hexagons across the upper part of this deep blue kilim, and toward the lower end the cells stretch and open up into broad, wavy bands, as if the pattern were slowly coming apart. The blue ground itself is richly streaked in navy, denim and slate, so the background never reads as flat. The ivory lines are fine and slightly irregular, which keeps the drawing loose and hand-made rather than rigid.

Woven by hand in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims, it has been rewoven into this modern, almost architectural design. It measures 10'8" x 13'4" (324 x 407 cm) and is roughly 5 mm thick, making it a good fit for a large living room, an open dining area or a spacious main bedroom. It weighs around 25 kg (55 lbs). A good non-slip pad underneath will hold it in place, and regular suction-only vacuuming is enough for everyday care.

The linear drawing and moody blue palette suit contemporary, mid-century, coastal and industrial interiors. It pairs well with white walls, pale oak and brushed metal, and brings quiet movement to a large floor. A grey or cognac sofa placed over the open lower section lets the honeycomb show at the far end of the room.
