11x14 Handwoven Blue Abstract Kilim Rug - 51704

Streaks of teal, slate blue, charcoal and pale aqua run in horizontal waves across this kilim, overlapping and breaking up like water or wind on a lake. There is no fixed motif, just a constantly shifting surface of cool tones, and small braided tassels finish each of the four corners. The darker charcoal streaks gather toward the top while lighter aqua threads come forward lower down, so the rug seems to brighten along its length.

Woven by hand in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims, it has been rewoven into this abstract modern piece. At 10'7" x 14'1" (323 x 430 cm) and roughly 5 mm thick, it fits a large living room, an open-plan space or under a dining table for eight. It weighs around 26 kg (57 lbs). A non-slip pad helps a rug this size stay put, and spills lift best when blotted quickly with a damp cloth.
