Evenly spaced horizontal stripes of chocolate brown and ivory run across a light sand field, and each stripe is broken into short bars by small gaps at regular intervals. The effect is a quiet, ladder-like rhythm that reads as a simple stripe from a distance and shows its stitched detail up close. Every few rows a softer grey-brown stripe replaces the darker chocolate, which lightens the rhythm, and the small breaks form faint columns running the full length of this large rug.

The kilim was handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this minimal design. At 12'8" x 15'8" (385 x 477 cm) and about 5 mm thick, it is an oversized flatweave for a great room, an open-plan living and dining space or a large dining room. It weighs about 35 kg (77 lbs), so it settles firmly, though a pad still adds grip and comfort. Rotating it once in a while helps the sand ground wear evenly.

The soft neutrals suit Scandinavian, Japandi, modern farmhouse and minimalist interiors, and they sit easily under light wood, linen and stone. In an open plan, it can anchor both a sofa group and a dining table at once. A calm, generous rug that covers a lot of floor without overwhelming it.
