4x5 Handwoven Blue Abstract Kilim Rug - 51659

A deep teal-blue frame surrounds a lighter blue center panel, and down the middle runs a flickering ivory streak that fades softly into the blue on either side. The effect is quiet and painterly, close to a wash of watercolor, and the gentle shifts in tone across the field come from the wool itself rather than any printed detail. Pale fringe finishes both short ends. The streak is uneven along its length, wider in some places and broken into flecks in others.

This flatweave was handwoven in Turkey using wool recovered from vintage kilims, unravelled and rewoven into a fresh contemporary design. It measures 3'7" x 5'2" (108 x 157 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, so it lies flat and is easy to lift, shake out or reposition. Use it in a hallway, at the foot of a bed, in a home office or in front of a console. It weighs only about 3 kg (7 lbs), so a non-slip pad is worth adding on hard floors.

The single color story makes it an easy match for modern, coastal and minimalist interiors, and it brings a calm, cool note to rooms with white walls or natural wood. Brass, cream ceramics or a pale linen chair would warm it up nicely. It is equally striking hung as a textile on the wall, a one-of-a-kind piece with a story behind it.
