4x6 Handwoven Multicolor Teardrop Kilim Rug - 51660

Rows of teardrop shapes fill this playful flatweave, set point-down across a warm ivory ground. Some drops are solid terracotta red, slate grey or mustard yellow, while others are drawn in fine horizontal pinstripes, which gives the pattern a light, almost mid-century graphic rhythm. A plain ivory border frames the field on all sides. The drops are staggered row to row so the colors never line up, and the spacing is generous enough that the ivory ground stays visible.

It was handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims, unpicked and rewoven into this new design. The rug measures 3'11" x 5'9" (120 x 176 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, so it lies flat, is easy to lift and fits neatly in a kitchen, an entry, a child's room or beside a bed. At about 4 kg (9 lbs), it is simple to shake out, and a quick vacuum without the beater bar keeps it fresh.

The cheerful palette suits retro, Scandinavian and eclectic interiors and brings color to plain floors without feeling busy. Mustard or rust cushions, a teak side table or a grey armchair would all echo its colors. It would also work well as a wall hanging, a one-of-a-kind piece with a second life.
