5x7 Handwoven Blue Lattice Kilim Rug - 51673

A lattice of small diamonds in blue, grey and ivory covers this kilim, and at its heart sits a rectangular panel holding stylized plant and tree motifs in brown and green. The design borrows from traditional Anatolian weaving but feels lighter and more modern thanks to the soft, washed palette. The diamonds are outlined in a fine sand-colored grid, and touches of rust appear in the small flowers inside the central panel.

Handwoven in Turkey from reclaimed wool taken from older kilims, it measures 5'3" x 6'8" (160 x 204 cm) and is about 5 mm thick. It works well in a living room, a bedroom or a dining nook. It weighs about 6 kg (13 lbs), and since a flatweave has no pile it stays flat under a table and lets chairs slide without snagging. Rotate it occasionally so both ends see similar traffic.

The mix of pattern and pale tones fits transitional, cottage, Mediterranean and modern traditional interiors. Blue-and-white ceramics, a painted wooden dresser or a slipcovered sofa would all pick up its gentle colors, and it softens a room with whitewashed walls. A thoughtful piece that bridges old and new.
