Bold ivory zigzags with stepped edges cut down a warm brown field in this kilim, like lightning drawn in wool. The shapes are arranged in two loose columns, and the slight shading in the brown background gives the design depth and a handmade feel. Each zigzag is lined with small saw-tooth notches, and the brown ground carries faint horizontal streaks of lighter and darker wool.

Handwoven in Turkey using wool taken from older kilims and rewoven into a modern pattern, it measures 5'0" x 6'8" (152 x 204 cm) and is about 5 mm thick. Use it in an entry, a bedroom, a den or under a compact seating group. It weighs about 6 kg (13 lbs) and has no pile, so it sits low enough for most doors to swing over it. A rug pad will stop it from shifting in a busy entry.
