Horizontal bands of coral, cherry red, sage green, soft lilac and grey stack across this kilim, and within each band small rectangular blocks alternate with finely striped sections. The effect is a cheerful patchwork that looks pieced together from different weavings, which in a sense it is. Orange appears at both ends, while a stronger red band near the middle gives the eye a place to rest, and no two rows repeat exactly.

Handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims, it measures 4'10" x 6'7" (148 x 200 cm) and is about 5 mm thick. It suits a bedroom, a home office, a playroom or a small living area and is easy to move from room to room, weighing about 6 kg (13 lbs). With no pile, toys and rolling chairs move across it easily, and a pad underneath helps it stay put.
