5x8 Handwoven Blue and Black Striped Kilim Rug - 51668

Wide stripes of dusty blue-grey and deep black alternate down the length of this kilim, a bold and simple pattern that feels both classic and contemporary. The blue carries soft variations in shade, so the stripes look painted by hand rather than printed. The bands are evenly spaced from end to end, and a slim plain edge runs along each side, keeping the overall look tidy and graphic.

It was handwoven in Turkey using wool reclaimed from vintage kilims and rewoven into this new design. At 5'0" x 7'9" (152 x 235 cm) and about 5 mm thick, it is a good fit for a smaller living room, a bedroom, a home office or a wide hallway. It weighs about 7 kg (15 lbs), and because a flatweave has no pile, desk chairs glide across it without catching. A thin rug pad underneath will stop it from creeping on smooth floors.

The striped look pairs naturally with modern, nautical, industrial and minimalist rooms, and the dark tones handle everyday traffic well. Try it with crisp white bedding, a navy throw or a black steel desk lamp to echo the two colors, or lay it lengthwise in a narrow room to draw the eye forward. Clean lines with a handmade feel.
