5x8 Handwoven Blue Arc Pattern Kilim Rug - 51667

Sweeping arcs in navy, cobalt blue, black and ivory curve across this kilim, overlapping like interlocking rings set against a finely striped grey-beige background. It is an unusual design for a flatweave, where curves are hard to achieve, and the stepped edges of each arc show the hand at work. The bands of sand, taupe and slate in the background shift subtly from top to bottom, so the curves seem to float above a layered ground.

Woven by hand in Turkey from wool recovered from older kilims, this rug measures 5'3" x 8'0" (160 x 243 cm) and is about 5 mm thick. It works well in a living room with a smaller sofa, at the foot of a bed or in a study. At roughly 7 kg (15 lbs) it is easy to roll and carry, and regular vacuuming with the beater bar switched off is all it needs day to day.
