6x9 Handwoven Multicolor Medallion Kilim Rug - 51682

A large stepped diamond medallion fills the center of this kilim, drawn in ivory, pale blue and deep brown with a cross-shaped motif at its heart and small dots tracing its outline. The ground around it is a warm golden tan, and an ivory border with hooked geometric figures and brown accents frames the whole design. Above and below the medallion, tall brown figures with hooked arms extend toward the ends, giving the composition a strong vertical axis.

The rug was woven by hand in Turkey using wool recovered from older kilims, then rewoven into this bold medallion layout. At 6'3" x 9'2" (191 x 280 cm) and roughly 5 mm thick, it suits a living room, a bedroom with the rug running beneath the lower half of the bed, or a study. It weighs about 10 kg (22 lbs), and a rug pad will keep the medallion centered where you place it.

Its traditional Anatolian-inspired drawing works well in bohemian, southwestern, eclectic and rustic interiors, and it also gives a modern room a striking focal point. The warm palette pairs nicely with leather, wood and terracotta. Centered under a round coffee table, the medallion frames the seating area naturally.
