Three wide blocks are set one above the other on a warm sand field, and each is divided into alternating black and ivory segments lined with fine pinstripes. The result is a crisp, architectural pattern with a deliberate sense of balance, framed by generous plain margins. Faint tonal lines in the sand ground and a slight softness at the block edges remind you that every segment was built up by hand, row by row.
Handwoven in Turkey, it is made from wool reclaimed from vintage kilims and rewoven into this new graphic design. It measures 6'11" x 8'11" (210 x 273 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, a versatile size for a living room, a bedroom or under a round dining table. It weighs about 11 kg (24 lbs) and lies close to the floor with no pile, so dining chairs slide in and out easily. Turning it end to end every few months helps it wear evenly.
Its black-and-ivory contrast suits modern, Bauhaus-inspired, industrial and minimalist spaces, and it brings structure to rooms with simple furniture. Pair it with a black metal coffee table, cream boucle seating or a wall of open shelving to carry the grid feeling through the room. A bold piece with a quiet palette.
