7x9 Handwoven Beige Graphic Block Kilim Rug - 51665

A plain sand-beige field leaves plenty of open space around the focal point of this kilim: three rectangular blocks stacked in the center, each filled with bold vertical stripes of black and ivory. The contrast is strong and graphic, closer to modern art than traditional rug design, and the quiet ground lets the blocks stand out. Each block holds a neat row of narrow black bars with thin pale gaps between them, and faint horizontal lines run through the beige margins.

It was woven by hand in Turkey from wool salvaged from older kilims and rewoven into this contemporary layout. At 6'11" x 9'2" (210 x 280 cm) and roughly 5 mm thick, it fits under a large sofa arrangement, a dining table or a king bed. It weighs around 11 kg (24 lbs). Since there is no pile to crush, it stays flat under heavy furniture, and a non-slip pad will keep it square on wood or tile.

This is a statement piece for modern, minimalist and gallery-style rooms, and it pairs well with black accents and natural wood. A low walnut sideboard, a linen sofa and a single large plant would let the black bars carry the room. It also hangs beautifully as a large textile artwork.
