A center of rectangular blocks in indigo, denim, sky blue and ivory is framed by a wide taupe border, where pale blue and brown zigzags and sawtooth triangles run around all four sides. Many of the blocks are woven with streaks and fine stripes, so the patchwork has a soft, painterly texture. Small flecks of rust appear inside a few of the darker blue panels, and thin brown lines separate the blocks like the leading in a window.
It was handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this framed patchwork design. It measures 9'3" x 11'3" (283 x 344 cm) and is about 5 mm thick. It is a good size for a living room, a dining area for six or a primary bedroom. The rug weighs roughly 19 kg (42 lbs). For care, vacuum it regularly with the beater bar switched off and blot any spills right away.
The blue and earth tones suit coastal, bohemian, modern rustic and eclectic interiors, and they work well with natural wood, leather and white walls. Try it with a cognac leather chair, a jute basket and a few blue ceramics, which repeat both the border and the center colors. A characterful mix of tradition and modern color blocking.
