9x11 Handwoven Brown Geometric Kilim Rug - 51789

A warm, slightly heathered brown field holds rows of small ivory rectangles spaced across the rug. Some rectangles are plain, while others carry thin black or grey stripes, so the motifs look like little woven labels or tiles. The layout is airy and orderly, with plenty of open ground between each shape. The rows are staggered from one line to the next, and the brown ground shifts gently between cinnamon and taupe across the field.

The kilim was woven by hand in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this design. It measures 9'0" x 11'2" (274 x 340 cm) and is roughly 5 mm thick, slim enough to slide under doors and furniture. It works in a living room, beneath a dining table for six or in a main bedroom. It weighs about 18 kg (40 lbs). A non-slip pad underneath keeps it from bunching, and spills are best blotted straight away.

Its earthy tones fit rustic, Japandi, mid-century and warm minimalist interiors and pair nicely with leather, wood and linen. A cream sofa, a teak sideboard and a few clay vases would suit its calm, natural palette. A simple, grounded rug with a subtle modern touch.
