9x12 Handwoven Beige and Black Color Block Kilim Rug - 51780

Three vertical columns divide this kilim, and within each one black stripes and solid black blocks stack on a light beige ground in varying widths. Because the columns do not line up exactly, the pattern shifts from left to right like a piece of abstract art or a barcode. The contrast is crisp and the layout is open. The center column carries the widest solid blocks, while the outer columns lean toward thinner, closely spaced lines.

The rug was woven by hand in Turkey from wool salvaged from older kilims, then rewoven into this graphic layout. It measures 8'10" x 11'10" (270 x 360 cm) and is roughly 5 mm thick, so it sits flat under sofa legs and chairs. It works in a living room, under a dining table for six to eight or in a main bedroom. It weighs around 18 kg (40 lbs). Spot clean the beige areas as needed and rotate the rug occasionally so it wears evenly.
