Wide chevron bands zigzag across an ivory field, stacked one above the other in rust, chestnut brown, navy and charcoal. Each band is woven with fine streaks of lighter color, which softens the edges of the zigzags and gives the pattern a lively, hand-drawn quality. Between the darker chevrons, paler bands in beige, olive and soft gold echo the same zigzag, so the peaks look layered like a range of mountains, and small sand triangles point down from the top edge.

It was handwoven in Turkey from wool salvaged from older kilims, then rewoven into this bold chevron layout. At 9'3" x 11'11" (283 x 362 cm) and roughly 5 mm thick, it suits a living room seating group, a dining table for six to eight or a primary bedroom. It weighs about 19 kg (42 lbs), light enough to roll and move without much effort, and a non-slip pad will keep it from shifting.

The pattern brings movement to modern, mid-century, bohemian and eclectic interiors, and the ivory ground keeps it from feeling heavy even in a smaller room. Rust cushions or a navy sofa can echo the bands nicely. Laid so the zigzags run across the room, it draws the eye from wall to wall. A confident rug for a room that needs energy.
