Large diamond shapes stack and overlap down the length of this kilim, worked in chocolate brown, sand, ivory, soft grey-blue and a few navy accents. Behind them the beige ground is lightly striped, which gives the diamonds a layered, almost woven-paper look. The palette is warm and balanced. The diamonds line up in neat vertical columns, and the navy ones appear only near the two ends, giving the layout a quiet sense of symmetry.
It was made by hand in Turkey from wool salvaged from older kilims and rewoven into this design. The rug measures 9'2" x 12'0" (280 x 365 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, a flat profile that is easy to roll and move. Use it in a living room, under a dining table for six to eight or in a main bedroom. It weighs about 19 kg (42 lbs). Vacuum it regularly with suction only and rotate it every few months for even wear.
The earthy diamonds suit Southwestern, mid-century, rustic and transitional interiors and sit well with leather and natural wood. A navy or slate armchair would draw out its cooler accents against the warm browns. A bold geometric rug in comfortable, warm tones.
