9x12 Handwoven Beige Striped Kilim Rug - 51751

Horizontal stripes of sand, ivory, chocolate brown and soft olive run across this flatweave, alternating between wide pale bands and groups of narrow dark lines. Three of the pale bands carry a row of tiny brown diamond motifs, a small detail that adds rhythm to an otherwise simple stripe. The groups of dark lines are themselves layered in brown, olive and moss green, and fine dotted rows sit beside them, so up close the stripes reveal much more texture than they suggest from across the room.

Made by hand in Turkey, the rug was woven from wool salvaged from older kilims and rewoven into this banded design. It measures 9'4" x 12'0" (285 x 366 cm) and is about 5 mm thick. It suits a living room, a dining room seating six to eight or a primary bedroom. It weighs about 20 kg (44 lbs). The flat weave lets chairs pull in and out easily, and a damp cloth handles small spills on the pale bands.

The earthy palette works in modern farmhouse, rustic, Scandinavian and organic modern interiors, and it sits well with wood, leather and woven baskets. The layered stripes are also forgiving of everyday traffic. An olive linen sofa or a moss green armchair would match its greener lines. A warm, easygoing stripe with a touch of detail.
