Bold chocolate brown stripes curve, split and taper across a light beige ground in a pattern that recalls zebra hide. The stripes meet along a loose center line and change direction toward the lower end, where they turn more angular and maze-like. The look is graphic and full of movement. The brown and beige share the surface almost equally, and the stripes have a slightly soft, hand-drawn edge.
Woven by hand in Turkey, the rug was made from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this design. It measures 9'2" x 12'2" (280 x 370 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, so it lies flat and handles easily. It fits a living room, a dining room with a table for six to eight or a main bedroom. It weighs about 20 kg (44 lbs). As a flatweave with no pile, it lets chairs slide out without catching, and a rug pad keeps it from shifting.
The brown and beige palette suits modern, eclectic, safari inspired and Art Deco rooms and pairs well with black, brass and rattan. Keep upholstery solid, perhaps in ivory or caramel leather, so the stripes have room to lead. A statement rug with a natural color scheme.
