9x12 Handwoven Multicolor Geometric Kilim Rug - 51779

Bands of thin stripes in grey, brown, ivory and red frame both ends of this kilim. In between, panels of denim blue, slate, lavender grey and ivory lean in angled sections toward a central rectangle, which holds a single column of red and black stepped diamonds. The composition feels like a modern take on a traditional medallion layout. A dark plum outline surrounds the central panel, and the diagonal blue sections meet in chevrons on either side of it.

It was made by hand in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this design. At 9'1" x 11'10" (277 x 360 cm) and about 5 mm thick, it lies flat and keeps a light, easy-to-handle weight of about 19 kg (42 lbs). Use it in a living room, under a dining table for six to eight or in a main bedroom. A thin non-slip pad helps it stay in place on wood or tile, and a suction-only vacuum keeps it fresh.

The cool blues with small warm accents suit eclectic, Southwestern, mid-century and transitional homes. Center a coffee table over the diamond column and add a slate or denim sofa for a balanced setting. A layered, colorful piece with a clear focal point.
