9x12 Handwoven Red Patchwork Kilim Rug - 51777

Rectangular blocks of deep crimson, dusty rose and warm sand are arranged in a loose checkerboard across this kilim. Short black and ivory bars line the edges of many blocks like small ladders, which adds rhythm and stops the layout from feeling too regular. Fine horizontal lines run through the blocks, giving each one a softly striped texture. The sand blocks lean toward a pale olive in places, and the crimson ones are the boldest, set mostly toward the outer columns.

It was handwoven in Turkey from wool reclaimed from older kilims and rewoven into this patchwork design. The rug measures 9'4" x 12'2" (285 x 370 cm) and is about 5 mm thick, so it lies flat and is simple to roll and move. It suits a living room, a dining room with a table for six to eight or a main bedroom. It weighs about 20 kg (44 lbs). Its flatweave construction lets chairs move freely, and occasional rotation keeps wear even.

The warm reds and sandy neutrals sit well in eclectic, Scandinavian, mid-century and modern farmhouse rooms. White walls, a walnut dining table and simple black-framed art let the reds stand out. A cheerful, graphic rug that brings warmth without feeling loud.
